Amanda Cushman


Jenny Cutler

Jenny Cutler has a B.A. in Elementary Education with concentrations in Early Childhood Education, Anthropology, and Teaching English as a Second Language. She also has a Master’s in Multicultural Education from Eastern University. She has taught in both public and private schools and is now homeschooling her children. Jenny loves teaching elementary students and engaging their natural curiosity about the world around them—which is what makes teaching science so much fun!

Jeanne DeHaas

Jeanne DeHaas is a founding member of Coram Deo Academics. She is wife to Ron DeHaas, mom to four adult children: Hannah, Andrew, Thomas and Abigail; mother-in-law to Collin and Rachel; and grandma to Connor, Logan, Caleb and Amity. Ron and Jeanne home schooled for 26 years. Jeanne has a degree in Christian Education from Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music.

Ron DeHaas

Ron DeHaas has a B.S. and M.S. in geology from The Ohio State University, and is a Ph.D. Candidate in geology at the University of Michigan. He has taught many geology, earth science, environmental, and other science classes. He also has a lifelong career as a petroleum geologist.

Luke Gilkerson

Luke Gilkerson has been teaching at Coram Deo since the first year and also serves as one of the chairpersons for the Coram Deo Board of Directors. Mr. Gilkerson has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Master of Arts in Religion. Luke is the creator of Experience Astronomy, an online series of courses for homeschoolers. He is also the author of the popular book The Talk: 7 Lessons to Introduce Your Child to Biblical Sexuality.

Trisha Gilkerson

Trisha has taught at Coram Deo several years and is a chairperson of the Board. Trisha has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Arts in Counseling. Trisha is the creator of the Write Through the Bible series, a curriculum that integrates Bible memory and handwriting into one daily discipline. She lives in Perry, Michigan, as is the mom of 5 very active boys.

Charlotte Hoshal

Charlotte received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mac Murray College in Jacksonville, IL with majors in biology and secondary education. She went on to take Business classes at Eastern Michigan University, began a Masters in Public Health at the University of Michigan, and took additional psychology and education classes through Central Michigan University in order to obtain teacher certification in the State of Michigan which was granted in life sciences, physical sciences, psychology, history, and geography. She taught office courses, computer science, geography, business writing, and speech for Baker College for 25 years. She is currently employed by Covenant Eyes and lives in Owosso with her husband Steve and her daughter Annelise. She is a member of Community EPC church. She is happy to be back in school as education is a way of life for her.

Dawn Howard

Donald Lindsey

Mr. Lindsey received his Bachelor degree in English (Creative Writing) and Secondary Education from Webster University (St. Louis, MO) in 1998. He received a Legal Assistant Certificate from Lansing Community College in 2007. This is Mr. Lindsey’s 6th year teaching at Coram Deo Academics. He lives with his wife, Dawn, and their 9-year-old Australian Shepherd, Molly, in Owosso.

Rachel McCarty


Rick Ross

Rick Ross taught electronics and applied physics at Owosso High School for 35 years, retiring in 2009. Rick was very active with Right to Life of Michigan and Shiawassee County in the 80s and 90s, and he currently chairs Citizens for Traditional Values Shiawassee (CTV Shiawassee), an affiliate of CTV Michigan. Rick was recently commissioned as a Colson Fellow by the Colson Center for Christian Worldview, which is an intensive one year study of the biblical worldview. Married to Gail for 44 years, Rick and his wife accepted Christ early in their marriage and raised their three children in the Lord who are now serving the Lord and raising their children in the Christian faith.

Katy Stone

Katy Stone is mother of Amelia (11) and Maggie (9). She has co-taught physical education at Coram Deo since the first year. Katy served in the Army and has a passion for swimming, bicycling, and running. She enjoys working with the children about healthy eating habits and exercising.

Sarah Thomas

Sarah Thomas is a stay-at-home wife and homeschooling mom. She has an Associate degree in graphic design and worked for 6 years as a graphic designer before having children. She occasionally works from home and also enjoys using her artistic talents to help her church, her friends, and her family. Mrs. Thomas loves to teach, learn, and make messes as she explores the world of art with her Coram Deo students.

Audrey Webb

This is Audrey Webb second time teaching physics at Coram Deo. She grew up in Perry before getting her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at MIT. After working as an engineer for several years, she switched gears and has been homeschooling her three boys (12, 10, and 9) for the past 6 years.
